ClusterTech Held the ”Video Broadcasting Simplified” Workshop with Verizon Digital Media Services

On 17 Jan 2017, ClusterTech held the “Video Broadcasting Simplified – from streaming to monetisation″ workshop at The Mira Hong Kong. Supported by Verizon Digital Media Services (VDMS), the workshop attracted some 20 representatives from major media outlets including TVB, ViuTV, Hong Kong Economic Journal, and Hong Kong Economic Times.

Two presentations were given, followed by a question and answer session. The first was by Mr Nazree Bakar, Regional Client Executive for Asia Pacific at VDMS who explained how VDMS has been simplifying video streaming on a global scale, for content providers such as ABC and Disney.

“Our digital media platform is the only one that can prepare, deliver, display and enable the monetisation of your content for TV-like quality experience anywhere on any device,” said Mr Nazree.

The second presentation was given by Mr Steven Leung, project consultant at ClusterTech. Mr Leung used examples of beer and diapers to illustrate how a data-driven approach can benefit a video streaming service provider.

He explained that data analytics plays a key role in video content monetisation as it allows content providers to understand their viewers. Mr Leung said, “75% of videos watched at Netflix come from next best video recommendations”.

The speakers and the audience went on to exchange thoughts about video streaming practices and how data analytics can be used in the final session. Overall, the workshop was well received, confirming the need for better video streaming and data analytics solutions in the Hong Kong market.
