Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Technological Achievement 2013 Hong Kong, 25 Oct 2013 – The Awards Presentation Ceremony-cum-Gala Dinner of the 2013 Hong Kong Awards for Industries (HKAI) was held on 24 October 2013 at the Convention Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.Hong Kong Productivity Council was the event organiser and the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Leung Chun-Ying was presented the awards ceremony.

ClusterTech was awarded the “2013 Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Technological Achievement Certificate of Merit” for achieving a high standard of intellectual property development, technological innovation, commercialization and the fostering of technology culture. This is ClusterTech’s second HKAI award, the first being for the CHESS high performance computing product in 2009.

The awarded product, Fengqi.Asia, is a public cloud service based on Joyent technology in Asia-Pacific. Fengqi.Asia Cloud SmartMachines run in containers which effectively prevent internal attacks. Through dynamic CPU bursting and data caching, Fengqi.Asia is able to accelerate Read I/O up to 15x. It facilitates the operation and publication of online games, mobile applications, and web services in mainland China, and lowers their monthly hosting spending by as much as 50%.

The HKAI is championed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and has been presented annually since 2005. The Organising Committee said, “Winning the Hong Kong Awards for Industries identifies a company as being committed to the pursuit of excellence, and producing quality products and services in which customers can have full confidence.”
